Life always a celebration

The date this appears to have been posted is wrong... today is Easter, March 31:)

In the spirit of the recent green (celebrated 3 times in one week) and pastel (twice in one weekend) holidays, I wanted to revel in the joy that many of us take in celebration. Many (though admittedly not all) thoroughly enjoy the arrival (and the anticipation of the arrival) of a holiday. It gives us an excuse to celebrate. So why do we need an excuse? I mean, shouldn't we celebrate life every day? Well, yes, of course we should, but there is no practical way to celebrate every day like a holiday; and even if we did, the holiday wouldn't be much like a celebration anymore... it would become run of the mill... routine.

So I, being one of the celebrators and at times a sucker for the commercial side of these occasions, enjoy celebrating holidays, from Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and the Fourth of July, to Valentines Day and St. Patrick's day. These days give us a little vacation from the daily grind and give us a chance to be with family & friends, make good food, and take part in fun (though maybe meaningless) activities such as drinking green beer and finding plastic eggs filled with candy.

While its nice to take these "mini-vacations" from day to day life, they truly are all about celebrating life. Whether the holiday holds religious significance, celebrates national independence, or is merely just a commercial ploy to get us to buy stuff- these are special times scattered throughout our calendar year that we can look forward to, celebrate, and that pose as reminders that we should be celebrating, whatever the occasion... celebrating each other and celebrating life. Oh, and Happy Easter!!

Ready, Set, lets find some candy
